A New Church

Commissioned in 2022 for PBA Theatre; A New Church is a comedic, coming-of-age story centered around the intersection between faith, love, rebellion, and desperation. Spencer, a devout college-aged Pentecostal attempts to bring five of his closest friends - Mike, a flamboyant metrosexual, Tim, a modern-day Pythagoras, Cierra, a popular girl at the prime of her life, Kari, the living legacy of Jackie Kennedy, and Evelyn, an “aesthetic goth” to come to a revival being held at his home church by playing matchmaker. When all in-person gatherings are halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the six must find a way to hold on to each other and their sanity amidst a rapidly changing world – dodging lockdowns, meeting restrictions, and school administration. Centered around the discussion of what truly matters: intent or action.

Sanctuary

Esther – a visibly goth girl – is exploring the empty church. As she does, Ben, a member of the church, enters to set up for Sunday’s service. As the play progresses, the two talk about faith, family, and the church, Ben’s struggle with zealots and Esther’s struggle to reconcile the Heavenly Father’s love with her own father’s abandonment. Sanctuary is a tale of love and loss but most importantly redemption.

You'll Figure it Out... Eventually

A hilariously oxymoronic show of a playwright describing to the audience why they do not have a play written for them to see. As the sole character, they recount the last few months of their life as they have desperately tried - and failed - to write a good show.

You'll Figure it Out... Eventually

Well, here we go... Lights up.
